RWE Power AG (RWE) is undertaking the construction of the BoAplus coal-fired power plant on a 23ha area with an electricity generation capacity of 1,100MW in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The project involves the construction of powerhouses, substations and the installation of two 550MW ultra-supercritical circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generators. 

The project will be developed in three stages.

In June 2015, Amec Foster Wheeler Plc was selected to carry out the first stage of the design; supply, erect and commission two 550 MW ultra-supercritical circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generators.

Amec Foster Wheeler will provide engineering services to obtain regulatory permits.

Planning activities are underway.

The project involves the construction of a coal-fired power plant on a 23ha area with a electricity generation capacity of 1,100MW in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

The US$2,014 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of power houses
2. Construction of substations
