Summary

Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) and PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PETRONAS) are undertaking the development of a gas field offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.

The project involves the development of an oil and gas field with an oil processing capacity of 20,000 barrels per day (bpd), a design oil processing capacity of 30,000bpd and gas processing capacity of 1.7 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d).

It includes the construction of offshore production units, storage tanks, warehouses, a processing unit, control valves, condenser facility, a distillation unit, heat exchanging unit and the drilling of wells, the installation of a 1,450-tonne Topside and 1,500-tonne Jacket, temperature control and metering units and the laying of pipelines.

In November 2014, RDSA and PETRONAS took the final investment decision (FID) to develop the E6 field.

In November 2014, Handal Resources Bhd was awarded a contract to design, supply and deliver pedestal crane for E6 field development project.

On September 5, 2016, Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works Corporation (Brooke Dockyard) was awarded an offshore platform fabrication contract to see the platform being deployed at the E6 field and developed as an integrated oil and gas facility. The scope of work under the contract includes the provision of project management, fabrication engineering, procurement, manpower, materials, consumables, equipment and facilities necessary for the onshore fabrication of the E6 platforms.

RDSA and PETRONAS asked five selected companies to submit the bids for the E6 platform installation and the subsea pipeline in the second quarter of 2017. The companies are namely: TL Offshore, PBJV Group Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Barakah Offshore Petroleum), a consortium of Hilong Marine and Brooke Dockyard & Engineering Works Corporation, McDermott and Alam Maritim.

On January 24, 2018, the fabrication works are completed by the Brooke Dockyard and the loadout ceremony was held.

RDSA and PETRONAS are in the process of appointing the contractor for the installation and the subsea pipeline and production from the E6 field is expected to commence by 2019.
