Livorno Port Authority (Autorita Portuale Del Porto Di Livorno) (LPA) plans to expand its terminal facility in Livorno, Italy.
The project involves the expansion of port facilities on 72ha of land. The project will be developed in phases.
It includes the construction of berths of more than 1,000m in length, storage facilities, warehouses, administrative space, loading and unloading facilities and the installation of machinery and safety systems.
The Tuscany Regional Administration and the Italian Government, together with LPA agreed to invest US$502 million in the project.
The infrastructure works of the project will be built partly through a project finance procedure system, as well as by direct Port Authority financing worth US$560 million, of which US$365 million is to be paid by the private developer, who will also provide final and detailed designs of the entire site.
On January 11, 2016, LPA issued tenders for the first phase construction and operation of the container terminal along with all ancillary works and equipping works with the submission deadline March 22, 2016.
In March 2016, LPA has extended the tender submission date to June 30, 2016, which was further extended to December 15, 2016, and later to May 31, 2017. However, in July 2017, the tenders were canceled.
As of February 2018, LPA invited a tender for preliminary and final design.
