Summary

Chevron Corporation (CVX) plans to undertake the construction of an offshore oil field platform in northwest Keathley Canyon, Gulf of Mexico, the US.

The project involves the construction of a semi-submersible platform with a production capacity of 100,000 barrels per day (b/d). It includes the construction of offshore production units, storage tanks, a processing unit, control valves, a condenser facility and a distillation unit, drilling of wells, the installation of pipelines, temperature control units, and metering units.

The project will be contracted under two packages namely topsides and hull.

Under this agreement, Wood Group will deliver conceptual engineering, pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED), FEED, detailed design and procurement services for the topsides of the project.

The other competitors for MSA were KBR, Audubon Engineering, EDG and Worley Parsons.

Discussions are underway with the design contenders for the hull package of the project. The design contenders include KBR, Aker, SBM Offshore and Exmar.

Pre-FEED works on the topside of the project are underway.

The financial investment decision and the contract award on the project expected in 2019.
